John

In this steel-line-drawing "John," is an introspective portrayal of a child. He is approximately ten years old, suspended in a moment of contemplation and isolation. The piece is set against a white wall, which serves as a stark backdrop accentuating the contrast between the central figure and his environment.

Created at the height of the 2022 Pandemic, a child stands before a mid-20th century house; he hangs suspended, feet detached from a solid surface, emphasizing disconnection and existential solitude from the world around him.

While the child's physical presence is captured, his inner thoughts and emotions remain a mystery. This veil of ambiguity contributes to the sense of existential isolation and introspection. The child's name, "John," further reinforces this theme of anonymity and universality, akin to the concept of John Doe used to represent unidentified individuals.

"John" emerges as a portrait in which the viewers must imagine the inner world of a solitary child while confronting the discomfort of social isolation.
